The Oregon City boats leave thia place for Portland on Sundays at 10 a.m. and 2 and 5:30 p. in, re turning leave Portland at 8 :30 and 1 1 :30 a. m. and 3:30. Infictid Ni'asEV Stock. Since the discovery ol bo many diseased trult trees in Eastern Oregon by Fruit Commissioner Hobbs, which It was stated had been shipped from 'Jaubjr, Commis sioner Dosch, In order to ascertain the (acts in the matter, vlslicd Cauby and made t thorough examination of the nvrscrlea In the vicinity. He found the stock In these nurseries pietty badly diseased. Quite a number of trees were "heeled In," preparatory to shipment, of which about 00 per cent were dead, and of a large lot In nursery rows, 73 per eent were diseased. The nurserymen were honest lu theli belief that the trees were healthy until they were shown to the contrary by cutting the bark of the nursery stock. Adjoining nurseries were visited and Ic-und to be In about the same condition, exoept one or two large blocks of prunes trees. The various owners agreed to take up and burn at once al e irees which were too badly diseased to be ' k" led by spruvlng, and will spray those not r 1 r '.'.vtt'd. Mr. Dutch reports that the new lav mi regard to fruit pests etc,, finds friends everywhere, when It is explained to them, as most people seem to have been under the Im pression that, when their trees are affected in any way, they would be summarily chopped down and burned up. This Is a most erroneous Idea, as It Is the wish of the board to save all Uie Irees possible and to assist owners iu doing so, and when this Is made plain to them, they are willing to go ahead and do anything required to be done.
