Hall, 217 Genesee St., Lock port, N. Y., Bays : " Over thirty years ago, I remember hearing my father describe the wonder ful curative effects of Ayer's Cherry Pectoral. During a recent attack ot La Grippe, which assumed the form of a catarrh, soreness of the lungs, accom panied by an aggravating cough, I used various remedies and prescriptions. While some of these medicines partially alleviated the coughing during the day, none of them afforded me any relief from' that spasmodic action of the lungs which would seize me the moment I attempted, to lie down at night. After ten or twelve such nights, I was Nearly in Despair, and had about decided to sit up all night in my easy chair, and procure what sleep I could In that way. It then oc curred to me that I had a bottle ot Ayer's Cherry Pectoral. I took a spoonful of tlii preparation In a little water, and was able to lie down without coughing.- In a few moments I fell asleep, and awoke in the morning greatly refreshed and feeling much better. I took a teaspoonful of the Pec toral every night for a week, then grad ually decreased the dose, and In two weeks my cough was cured." Ayer's Cherry Pectoral Prepared by Dr J I. Mayor Thos. Charman; 2d vice-president, II. T. Smith ; T. L Charman was reelected treasurer and Frank Donaldson secre tary. Each officer was elected unani mously, the secretary casting llie ballot. Mr. Blum, ol the l'ortland committee on the Oregon exhibit at the Midwinter luir, addressed tho board. Ho suit! the committee had determined to ruise $20,000 for the purpose by issuing stock to that amount wliich most probably would be returned to the persons who bought any part of it as $23,000 was over from the sum appropriated by the legislature for the World's Fair at Chicago. Each share is $1 and is pur chasable by anybody or any association. Unpt. Apperson, tne special commis sioner for tliis countv. hsd given $50; Baker City had given $300. Goy. Pen noyer had given $.300 in lumber from "my sawmill." Exhibitt are being pre pared in Washington county where also a fund is being raised, and the people of Astoria are moving tn the matter. Any printed matter from Clackamas county will be circulated free at the Midwinter Fair. On motion of T. L. Charman. a com mittee W38 appointed by the president consisting of T. L. Charman, Henry Smith, John' Pillsbory, And Charles Meserve, to secure subscriptions for the exhibit from Clackamas county at the Midwinter Fair, to appoint sub-committees in the different sections of the county for the purpose and to take any measure that may promote Ihe object in view. II. 7j. Burkhart, of committee ou ad vertising, reported that he was about ready to begin the printingofspamphlet descriptive of the county. The plan was to print 5000 copies of a 70 page pamphlet, 30 pages of which were to bo half-tone engravings, at a cost of $350. The board voted him $50 to pay part of the cost of engraving. Treasurer Charman stated that when all the collections had boon made the board would have on hand only $202, and on acoount of the cost of the pamphlet, it could not from its bonds contribute toward the F'air. It was agre"d, therefore, that all contributions made by individuals would be credited to the board, und that when the stato returned the money it would be equally returned to said individuals. The board adjourned to meet three weeks hence, January 29th, to hear the report, of the committee on the Mid winter Fair. The board elected Capt. Apperson, honorary commissioner of this county, chairman of said committee. LOCAL SUMMARY. What is the matter with E. G. Farns worth's tonsorial parlor, the only first- class one in Oregon City ?
