Tilling Floods in a Half Ce.nturv. It is stated in a description of the flood of 1801-02 published in the Salem SluUi man from the pen of Mrs. 8. A. Clarke, that in the opinion of John Minto the flood of October, 1844, when he arrived at Oregon City, was higher than the flood of '111. This recollection ol the old gentleman shows that in 40 years, from 1844 to 18U0, there have been three floods in the Willamette valley, with an intermission of 10 or 20 years between two.
