One of the most important matters of Interest to the people of Powder, river valley and especially those of Haines, was made public this week, when the announcement to the effect that the county court would build a macadam road from Baker to Haines this year, was made. An appropriation of 184,000 has been made by the state for this pur pose, while the county will assume the cost of grading. The macadam ized road will not be the "straight" road agitated a few years ago, but will follow th9 county highway. The Haines Record. John McEntlre, prosperous sheep man of this county, who has been running the Whetstone ranch on Hin ton creek for the past two or three years, closed a deal with O. U. Krebs the past week whereby he takes over 4,360 acres of land situated on Skin ner fork. This land is partly range and partly wheat land and is one of the best places In that part of the county. The consideration involved the sum of 153,000. Mr. Krebs and his sons took hold of this land about four years ago, coming here from Portland.
