We must have cooperative effort to bring those out to where they should be. fur the ben efit of the state and nation. In this part of Oregon, develop ment work haa not yet begun. Fifty year ago this winter, the right of white man to even exist In the valley of the Oehoco ques tioned by the Red Skin, and It would seem at that time that thotr put -it was well taken. Today, eyes of the state and the northwest are directed on the Ocho co valley, where the people have dared to undertake the financing and construction of their own rail road and the development of an Ir rigation project that will make pos sible the production of more meat and bread stuffs within fifteen miles of Prlneville than were being pro duced in the entire Oregon of ftfty years ago. These are but some of the things that are to make the Ochoco valley and country tributary, one of the choice spots of the nation, and to de velop the industries that are under our very eyes today, all that is needed is more of the same kind of spirit that has brought us to this point, namely: cooperation, hustle, and more cooperation. The war is over. Let every one prepare for the bigger and better world that is here and the better times that are coming. CALL FOR WARRANTS A call has been sent out for Gen eral fund warrants up to and includ ing Number 6586; WHAT COMES NEXT? For four years the energies of the world have been directly bent on the winning of the war, and today the war is won. For almost two years, every loyal American has placed everything else decidedly second to the war winning tasks, and the public mind and mus cle has been directed along these channels. The results of these efforts are en tirely satisfactory, and concerning them there are no regrets. America as a nation, escaped the real ravages of war to a large extent, and at the ' same time was able to throw onough energy and material as well as men, into the balance at the critical mo ment to win the war for and with the allied governments. Whether we entered the war at the right time, in Just the right way. is not an issue now. The results are entirely satisfactory, and the United States was able to deliver the blow that helped to finish the Hun. That the war is over there can be no doubt. The final settlement will be made in the coming weeks, and it will be severe enough for the Hun. He will pay for the fun he has had during the past four years and pay dearly. But what comes next? The lesson of cooperative work in each community as well as the state and nation, and for that matter be tween nations, has been such that we have seen the facts driven home as never before. "United we Stand," was never so true as now. In Oregon there are many unde veloped, and many more partly de- NO.
