The facts are that the War Sav ings Stamps, or Haby Honda offer the best investment that Is to be found In the world today. They are a nice thing for the children to buy to be suro, but the quota for this county Is more than two-thirds as great as that of the last Liberty Loan. Every citizen will bo called upon to make an Investment In these little kaiser tickers during the next few days, and It is not good business, not your part in this conflict, to avoid doinK so. unless It is absolute ly necessnry that you should use your ftiii.Ui In some other way. Think it over, and he ready to do your duty. w. s. e. A IWt'STMKNT Two years ajro Pritieville as a community, made th experiment of trnrsititoiiiis a Phi ,,., nii.l j the venture was a s.'iund one. Last year the event was repeated, and it was a decided success on that occasion. On July 5, tiie third' ('hiiutautiH will open for a s'x di'vs' schkIoii in this city, and it promises to be the most interesting aud beneficial of all. There is no aiKument against the Chautauqua. It is llko the dailv newspaner, the pi. 'ture theatre nnd the public school system, it is a pnrt of the great American scheme or things. To him who ranttot be benefitted Jy hearing up t the minute lec tures, good music and other uplift ing things, there is no attraction in the Chautauqua. Whether it is a good investment for the community or not Is beside the point, yet a careful Investigation of the facts will disclose the evi dence that It is a decided asset to any community, and especially to Prlneville, from an economic stand point. Prineville has a record for com munity effort, and successful con clusions to every undertaking thnt is not surpassed in the country, and the history of the Chautauqua for 1918 will be another chapter In the book of progress for the community. Boost! The Chautauqua is an in stitution that denotes culture, intel lect, learning. If you don t stand for It, don't blackmail yourself by admitting it to anyone! w. a. s. CARRY OX! When Lyceum and Chautauqua workers talk of allowing their ac tivities to lapse during the period of the war they are slackers; in fact, worse than that they are deserters for that is what we would call a soldier If he said he was tired, had already had too many calls upon his strength and endurance and there fore would not continue In the mili tary service. We arerall soldiers most of us assigned to civilian du ties "to keep the home fires burn ing." We cannot "lay down" on "an integral part of the national defense" as President Wilson has called the Lyceum and Chautauqua without being traitors to the cause for which America entered the. war. We really hhould not hae needed President Wilson or anyone connect ed with the AilinlnlHt ration to toll im -the evidence are and have been all about us. WHAT CATARRH IS Science has shown lhat nasal catarrh often Indicates a general weakness of the body and local treatments in the form of snuffs and vapors only irritate and do little if any good. To correct catarrh you should treat its cause by enriching your blood with the oil-food in Scott's Emulsion which is a medicinal food and a building tonic, free from any harmful drugs. It is helping thousands. Try it. Scott & Bonne, Bloomfield.N.J.
