The freedom we now enjoy, the country we love and the flag we honor, were made possible by the sacrifice of many lives, and this ap plies many times magnified, in the conflict we are now waging. While the establishment of our government was made possible by what was at that time a heavy sac rifice of life, its maintenance at this time will cost much more, and while bo one doubts of the ultimate suc cess of our armies and our navy, the appalling loss of life is not to be considered lightly, and on this day of days, the nation should and will observe fitting services. The children should be at the services too, that they may under stand and remember in years to come, something of the spirit that makes our America possible. w. s. 8. sing: How rm"v men, as thev come down the strei t without preparation, can sing mvre than one verse of America?
