David Dunn, of Imperial, slashed Grover Caldwell's body in several places when the two engaged in a street fight in Bend Wednesday evening about 8 o'clock. The trouble is suposed to have started over the disputed ownership of a horse, although each man tells a different story, Diuin had Just arrived from Bla lock and was walking down the street with another man when he met Grover Caldwell and his brother Ralph. After a short conversation concerning a certain horse which Dunn claimed belonged to him, the j two men began emphasizing their j words with blows. Dunn drew a knife and inflicted several serious wounds. Caldwell was taken to the hospital and Dunn was placed in the county jail to await trial. He entered a plea of not guilty. Both men have been in court be fore and Caldwell is accused of stealing a steer from U. S. Bushnell, of Powell Butte, and will come be fore the grand jury next month. The trial of Dunn, charged with attacking Caldwell, took place Sat urday afternoon before Judge Eastes. He was bound over to the grand jury and his bail placed at $5,000. He is to be held in jail until it is certain that blood poisoning or other ( serious complications do not arise from the wonds he inflicted on Caldwell. jJ2tK 2 oz. (rWyf. V bottle tej !?
