Kennedy and family were visitors at Alex Riekman's lust Sunday. Miss Dorothy Hacklonian visited at Alex Amnions last Saturday night and Sunday. Little Lucilo Riokmnn was on the sick list last night but Is reported better this morning. ' A taffy pull was given at Mrs. E. Danielson's lust Saturday night. Quite a number were present and all report a splendid time. Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Robhins made a business trip to Rend last week returning home Wednesday, MEADOWS NEWS By our Regular Correspondent.) J. R. Whittiker and wire were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Cox t Barnes. R. J. Engstrom returned from Albany, Sunday, where he has been for the past few weeks visiting rel atives and friends. Frank Craine and wife, Mrs. Letha Milliorns and Miss Kyle from Prineville attended the dance at Buck Creek last week. J. R. Whittiker and wife, Ira Cox and wife and Ray Morgan, Mrs. Ed Nelson and Mrs. Pearl Harris, of Post, went to Buck Creek, Friday night with Mr. Kyle to the dance. They found roads very dusty and everything very dry In that section of the country, yet all report a fine time. Harry Barnes went to Bend for supplies, also George Tack man of this place. Fisher Logan returned from Bend last week with supplies. Chas. Stevenson is again on his place at Hampton Buttes. HELD ITEMS (By our Regular Correspondent) Tom Rickman made a business trip to Prineville this week. Mrs. Alex Rickman spent a few days this week with her sister, Mrs. Tom Rickman. Mrs. E. Danielson was a business caller at Held, Monday. Mr. and Mrs. E. O. Cline, of Hooper, Wash!, passed through Held, Monday, on their way to visit the latter's parents, where they ex pect to spend a few days. . Doak made a trip to Mitchell recently. Mr. ana Mrs. Thornseu are on the Mulvahill ranch and expect to remain all winter. A farewell surprise party was given Saturday evening, Nov. 3, on Ed Merritt and family who expect to leave Meadow this coming week. H. F. Mrs. Rodkey had the misfortune to fall down the store steps while bringing down a load of bedding. Her face was badly bruised and swollen, otherwise she was not seriously hurt. Mr. and Mrs. Charley Sherman and niece, and Isaac Wilson motored to Brown's on Monday. Henry Street is over from Silver Creek this week. The cattle ride is at Hampton Buttes at present. Mr. and Mrs. Short, who have been visiting at Sherman's for some time, have returned to their home in Washington. Gus Lempkey and family, who have been working for Dixon Bros, all summer, have moved back to their homestead. While driving home in a Ford from Hampton Buttes the other evening, Bruce Balfour had what might have proved a very serious accident. The steering apparatus on the car broke while crossing a ditch. The machine turned and ran back into the ditch, several feet be low the crossing before he could get it under control. John Handy returned with a load of grain from Silver Creek Monday morning. However he could not obtain any wheat. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Stuart were Fife visitors Sunday. Bill Lozier returned recently from a trip to Bend. He expects to leave soon for Seattle to visit his brother who has enlisted In the navy. The Stuart Cattle Co. sold over a hundred head of beef to Messrs. George Dixon and E. T. Slayton, of Prineville, last week. Mr. snd Mrs. Norton and Miss Hansen visited Mr. and Mrs. SW. O. Elliott, Sunday. Dr. Newsom spent the week-end with S. J. Newsom and family. R. G. Raymond and family and Mrs. .Roy Gray spent Sunday even ing at the Newsom ranch. Dug Smead is improving after a serious Illness. Orval Hayes and cousin, Robert Kitching. of Prineville, spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Hayes. W. H. Brummer has moved to'the ' Shotgun puree" so he can send his children to school. The Bonnyvlew ranch Is building a new garage. J. W. Johnson Is doing the work. Henry Brummer has the contract for the construction of an Irrigation ditch for W. O. Elliott and the ! work is now under way. The water will be taken from the north fork of Crooked River and will Irrigate all of the bottom land on the ranch.
