Mrs. Alice Nelson and Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Roberta, of Roberts, were in Prineville Monday. Eighth grade examinations will be held in this city by Superintendent Myers on May 17 and 18. Rev. F. C. Laslette will speak at the Montgomery school house next Sunday, May 6, at 2:30 p. m. E. L. Rose returned iionday from Boise, Idaho, where he was called on account of his mother's illness. Mrs. Vira Cyrus, Mrs. Sitton, Miss Johnson, John Cyrus and Jesse Sitton motored to Bend Friday. Walter W. Nicely and Marie Ontko were married at the Presby terian church ' Monday by Rev. Van Nuys. J. H. Keene left the last of the week for La Grande where he will have charge of the electrical depart-' ment of the big L. C. Smith garage. Miss Beth Beier, who has been teaching at Lone Pine, left for her home in Portland Saturday. She has accepted the school at Paulina, and will return in about two weeks. Miss Grace Bland, of Terrebonne, who has been visiting friends in Prineville for a few days, will leave soon to enlist as a Red Cross nurse. Mrs. Lakin and daughter who have been visiting at the home of Hugh Lakin for several weeks, left Friday for their home In Minnesota. Clyde Hooper and Miss Jennie Crane, both of Prineville, were mar ried in The Dalles last Thursday. They will make their home In this city. Mrs. Albert Schreder and children have gone to Eugene where they will be joined by Prof. Schreder as soon as school is closed. Miss Ethel Phelps returned yes terday from Portland. She has en listed as assistant to the U. S. Navy Surgeon, Percy McMurdo, but will remain in Prineville until she is called. The Young People's Societies held a union social evening at the Baptist church Friday evening. A musical program was given and games were played. A delightful time was had by the large crowd present.
