David Uobreg, state health officer is in Prineville and 'vicinity today on business,, corrected with his office. A meeting of the Chautauqua association was hold last night at which plans wore made for the local event which will be held here July 3 to 8. M. K. Paget repre senting the association, was present and assisted materially in planning for the ticket sale. Thtre will be two games of base bat! in thy; city next Suminv. At JO :"0 there will be a game between Culver and Paulina and in the afternoon Prineville and Bend will cross bats again for the deciding game. The Culver-Paulina game will be an interesting one for these teams are considered about equal in merit. They expect to both ap pear here during the tournament, Chautauqua week. Joseph Townsend who has lived in the vicinity of Powell Butte for the last two years was brought to the local hospital in an uncon scious condition this morning. H has been in this state of being for IS hours and physicians seem to think the stupor caused by a brain disorder. A receipt among his papers shows him to be a paid-up member of the Odd Fellow lodg of Vassar, Michigan, until June of this year. The local lodge is inves tigating. At a prohibition meeting held in this city Monday evening, it was unanimously voted to assist in the statewide movement to get a measure on the ballot this fall which provides for absolute prohi bition. The effort of the brewerv interests to open their institutions by a measure which will be on the same ballot will meet with or ganised opposition by the temper ance people of this county, accord ing to the statements made at this meeting. The lift for the water is about 95 feet, and all arangements have been made to install the plant. The land is situated just north of Crook ed river in what is sometimes called the Lone Pine basin.
