STOP Looking back we saw that it was a two-sided sign Welcome coming in and Good bye going out. If I am ever within bounds of Cenral Ore gon again I am going through Prine ville if it is a hundred miles out of my way. I want to encourage such signs, particularly when they so per fectly express the natural courtesy and hospitality of a city. And I am inclined to think that many a pro gressive, booming town that does not have behind it 45 years of exis tence as has Prineville, might culti vate the same general air of hospi tality to the visitor. I believe it would appeal to the intending settler or the casual visitor perhaps as favorably as smokestacks and other monuments of progress. I would not advise any city copy ing the same example of Prineville unless the sign cun be made an ex pression of Jhe hospitality of a peo ple. Otherwise that "good-bye" would be but a mockery and its ef fect the opposite intended. Frank II. Lamb. Bend, Ore., June 15, 1915.
