Institute Highly Enjoyable Conctinued from Tajre 1 Prof. J. B. Shouse of the Bond ,' tion, in administration, or in finding High School discussed very ably the standardization of the teaching pro fession by means of tests, frequently self-applied. Mrs. Coe in a short half-hour talk touched upon the rudimental part of scho l music and how to present it ; to children. a way for directing the self-activity of pupils. The teacher has a great opportunity to interest boys and girls in grange, literary societies or agricultural improvements. For the man who has missed his chance in earlv life Prof Raslr recommends fifteen minutes a day Monday evening a most delightful j with President Kliot's five-foot book reception was tendered the teachers t shelf; this will give a man a liberal by the Ladies Annex at the Com-education. Free correspondence niercial Club hall, which had been transformed by means of decorations of autumn leaves. The entertain ment was unique. Guests upon ar rival were required to register as for college, and to pass through laughable tortures in the form of examinations in three departments, music, art. and physical culture. A high degree of proficiency being at tained in each they again passed to the club hall and were entertained by a program of speaking and music. Upon assembling Tuesday morn ing the teachers were pleased to find that Prof. E. D. Ressler of O. A. C. had arrived. H e discussed the pleasure one finds in work, under the following topics: 1. Rational happiness in life is conditional on economic independ ence. . 2. Rational happiness includes joy in work as well as in leisure. 3. The sources of joy in work. I. Education must reveal to the courses in our state institutions are also within the reach of all. It is possible to grow in scholarship, in professional leal ami usefulness. A true teacher takes the same pride that a parent docs in the achieve ments of the boys and girls." Mrs. Fulkerson opened her talk on "A Boy's Eye View" by claiming the distinction of having "eaten her dinner in the basement with the boys" for a jeriod of time sufficient ly' long to know what "us boys" think. Her unusual point of view was most helpful in setting before the teachers some of the real prob lems of school life. Every teacher was sorry to hear Dr. Winship announce that Tues day's session was the last he would spend in the Crook County Institute this year. In his lecture upon "Ed ucation for Efficiency" he said: "Schools are inefficient because we are doing so many things wring. We do not discriminate between what is worth while and what, is Jury List and Docket for October Term of Court Continued from Pge 1 pupil his special abilities and the( useless." Building a Reputation WHEN the first I H C tractor was planned, the idea was to have the new tractor fit into its work just as one well-cut gear meshes into another. All conditions of farm work were taken into consideration dusty fields, gritty sand, tough clay, and tougher sod. There must be protection from flying dirt. The power of the engine must not be wasted. The machine must be so simple that anyone could manage it. The need of repairs should be infrequent, and repairs easily made. This was the plan behind the building of IHC Kerosene-Gasoline Tractors How well the plan worked out is shown by the reputation that IHC tractors enjoy; a reputa tion built upon a steadily growing knowledge among farmers of the good work done by IHC tractors. The engine has no rapidly moving parts or delicate adjustments to be affected by dust, dirt, and grit. The simple gearing trans nvtsalarge percentage of engine power to the drawbar. IHC tractors are in use everywhere, '.n the hands of many men who are in no way "machine wise." The value of an I H C tractor to a busy farmer lies in its many uses and its reasonable cost. It furnishes power for plowing, seeding, harvesting, threshing, hauling and for many kinds of belt and drawbar work. IHC tractors are now made in 12, 15, 20, 25, and 45-horse power sizes, to suit conditions everywhere. IHC general purpose engines for use in shop, mill, and factory, and on the farm, are made in sizes from 1 to 50-horse power.
