Saturday afternoon a game of t'irket ball between the high school team and the "All Star" team which en made op of college men from the town. This game wag one of the exciting events of the fair, and gave the high school the i decision by two points, j Friday and Saturday the Indian poor raoe were ftarted and as j there were many entries for all the j ert-Lts the horns were started from the wire, four in each direction arocnd the track. These race were closely contested and fur tirLtd great (port for the ipecta tort. The exhibition of broncho riding on Friday wae very good, and good ' horsemanship waa displayed by several of the riders. The bronco races were exciting also but pro vided lesi amaeement than the bucking contest. The general appearance of the grounds and the attending thrcngs of vistiore was typical of the country fair. There was more of the fair spirit in the air than at any like event the county hag seen. There were quite a number of concessions. The association bar red all fakes from the grounds and took every precaution to protect the crowds. The pink lemonade, ice cream cone, hot lunch, toy baloons, and venders of many such articles were in evidence. The thows of various kinds at tracted many of the younger gen eration and some of the older ones. School Day. Friday of last week was School Bay at the Fair, and the crowd that witnessed the events of the day was the largest ever seeu on the association grounds, An exact count was impossible, but more than two thousand people were present, the number being about 2200 as nearly as could be de termined. The exercises started with a pa rade from the High School building to Klkins' store, up Main street to the club hall, where some of the younger pupils were loaded into wagons, and from this point to the fair grounds, The parade wag led by the upils of the High School, in orde of their date of graduation, the senior class Erst, j uniors, sophmores j and freshmen. Each class wore J the class colors, and carried a class ' banner with appropriate wording. The High School was followed by country schools especially district 11 and these bvthe primary grades of the PrineviHe public school?. These grades made excellent show ing and much credit is due the! teachers of the respective grades t for their good work. Each of the j pupil wore a cap with the grade! number in class colors and the best of discipline was manifest among j the classes. Principal Meyers and ! his staff of teachers were highly j complimented both for the appear- i ance of their wards on the street j and their work in the school room. i Music was provided by the Bend 1 Concert Band, which headed ihe parade. The marshal for the oc-1 caseion was Clark Morse. Upon arrival at the grounds the ! crowd was addressed by President! Campbell of the U.of O. and Presi dent Homan of Willamette Uni versity. Both men gave excellent addresses, and were heartily cheered by the audience. Following the addresses came track meet in which Wilton) Belk nap took first place as Lett all around athlete, and Roy MeCal liater second: Belknap receiving 28 points and MtCallister 25. Some of the best records for the tract events are: High jump, 4 feet, by McCallister, broad jump 17 feet, by Bslknap, hop ekip-and-jump,34 feet 10 inches, by Belknap, ball throw 257 feet 8 inches by Belknap. In the junior events, which were not so closely contested, Wing was easily winner as best all around athlete with 25 points. Many of the people brought lunch baskets and at noon hun dreds of people eat on the grass around the pavilion, and on differ ent parts of the grounds. The baby show at the fair was held on Friday. There were thir teen contenants, and the judges experienced a busy time ir arriv ing at decisions. The winners in the younger class were Francis Ward O'Connor, first; Lorene Ride out, second; Clayton Constable, third; in the older class Louis Ilin ton, first; George Ilobbs, second; Eugene Brown, third.
