Zeverly and Mine Mabel (VKelley were married Sunday evening at the home of C. C. Hon', lies. W. K. Kidenour officiating. The wedding waa a private one. Both the bride and bridegroom are eatimable young people and enjoy a wide acquaintance in thia com munity. They will make their home in Prineville. C. J. Binghan, a forest supervi sor from the Caacadea South, is in Prineville awaiting a diviaion of the Blue mountain reaerve. In stead of two diviaiona aa at pres ent the reaerve will Ih cut up into three and it ia the new division that Mr. Binghan will have charge of. Hia headquarters will be at John Day. Miss Edra Williamson returned Monday from a month's vioit with friends at Newport and Arlington. Mra. R. P. Miller and family have moved in from Poat for the winter. The children will attend the public schools. Miaa Conway and Miaa Stevens came in from Portland Friday to take up their work at the Crook County High School. County roadmaater Karl Mc Laughlin left the first of the week for Rosland where he has a crew of men building roads. Remember the Kpworth League straw ride Saturday evening. Re freshments will he served at Belk nap ball on its return. Miaa K. Anderson returned from her home at Bay Center, Washing ton, tho first of the week to re sume her place iu the public schools here. Ten thousand acres of home stead, and forty-five thousand acres of timber lands were passed to patent in Crook county at the close of the year on March 1st. It is pretty safe to say that the P. A. A. C. will have a physical instructor this winter. Members of the club are working hard with this end in view. A competent instructor will cost the club $150 a month. A. Thomson came over from Madras the first of the week. Mr. Thomson says that the road trains will be moving this week It was expected that the service would be started before this but the breaking down of the flat car upon which the wagons were consigned to Shaniko caused the delay. There was a very pretty display of Asters at I. Michel's on Satur day. Warren Yancey took first prize for blending; Arthur O'Neil got second prixe for variety and a special prize was given Anna Thronson for a very fine general display. Miss Thronson divided her exhibit into a number of dif ferent vases and by a mistake of the judges she was not given full credit for her exhibit until after the awardH were made, hence she was given a special prize. King Dead Aa we go to press today we learn the sad news of the death of Mrs. Lyddie J. King, the mother of Mra. McDowell of tho Hotel Prineville. Mrs. King left - here about six weeka ago to visit her sons and daughters in the Willamette val ley. It was while visiting at Holly that ahe waa taken sick and died last night. Mrs. King was C3 years of age and was a pioneer of 1851. She waa the mother of nine child ren, six of whom survive her. She will be buried at Crawfords ville, Mrs. McDowell left today to attend the funeral of her mother. The regular fall beef ride on Upper Ochoco, Horse Heaven and Crooked river was organized Mon day. There were some twenty-five or thirty riders. It will take about three weeks to complete the round-OP- Bend Mercantile Company Closed An injunction has been served on Bend Mercantile Company by Sheriff Klkins. It was done at the instigation of the Central Oregon Banking & Trwt Company. Two reasons are given by the hank for asking for an injunction: First, that the creditors are not receiving as much by running the business under the present plan as by sell ing the stock as a whole, and second, that the company's cut prices are seriously damaging all other business in tow n. The bank asks that a receiver be appointed to close up affairs R. L. Sabin, of Portland, has been representing the company's creditors as trustee, and 0. S. Crocker has been the local manager.
