For more information go to http:// oregonsheriffssales.org 6/17, 6/24, 7/1, 7/8 NOTICE CITY OF KEIZER MEASURE REFERRAL IMPOSING CITY TAX ON MARIJUANA RETAILER’S SALE OF MARIJUANA ITEMS NOTICE OF RECEIPT OF BALLOT TITLE On June 20, 2016 the Keizer City Council adopted Resolution R2016-2694 referring a City Measure (Imposing a City Tax on Marijuana Retailer’s Sale of Marijuana Items) to the voters at the general election on November 8, 2016. On June 21, 2016 the following ballot title was fi led with the Elections Offi cer of the City of Keizer: BALLOT TITLE Caption: IMPOSES CITY TAX ON MARIJUANA RETAILER’S SALE OF MARIJUANA ITEMS Question: Shall City of Keizer impose a three percent tax on the sale of marijuana items by a marijuana retailer? Summary: Under state law, a city council may adopt an ordinance to be referred to the voters of the city imposing up to a three percent tax or fee on the sale of marijuana items in the city by a licensed marijuana retailer. Approval of this measure would impose a three percent tax on the sale of marijuana items in the city by a licensed marijuana retailer. The tax would be collected at the point of sale and remitted by the marijuana retailer. The sale of Medical Marijuana would be exempt from the tax. Any elector who is dissatisfi ed with the ballot title may petition the Circuit Court in Marion County to review the ballot title. The petition must name the City of Keizer City Council as the respondent and state the reasons the title fi led with the Court is insuffi cient, not concise, or unfair. The petition for review must be fi led with Circuit Court in Marion County no later than 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 30, 2016. Any elector fi ling a petition to review the ballot title must provide written notifi cation to the Elections Offi cer of the City of Keizer no later than 5:00 p.m. on the fi rst business day after the petition is fi led with the Circuit Court.
