POULTRY. Work in this depart ment consisted of holding two call ing demonstrations meetings, one at Vale and tho other at Jamleson, with a momber of the farm bureau poul try commlttoe, Mr, Graham Park as Instructor, In order that the poul- trymon ot theto communities might socure some help of tho advantages ot the Instruction given by Mr, Cosby as reported In last months work. About thirty persons attend ed these demonstrations. Prelim inary to further work planned for the poultrymen under the guidance ot Extension Specialist II. R. Cosby, a poultry demonstration farm was arranged for as a result of an agreement between A. B. Cain of Cairo community, Farm Bureau Chairman of poultry, and extension sorvlce officials. This work brings about tho realisation of pinna for market ing poultry products from south oastorn Oregon and southwestern Idaho, which havo boon previously reported. In order that somo ac tion might rosult to assist lu tho marketing of the great surplus ot alfalfa hay In tho hands ot the grow ors, tho agent called a mooting ot hay growers and arranged for speakers to present various sub' Jects bearing on the problem. This meeting was held on the 31st day of October and was attended by fifty or more representative hay growers. II. A. Llndgren, extension specialist In livestock husbandry gave figures to show the value of hay wlion mar keted thru the feeding of meat ani mals., N. C, Jamleson, extonslon specialist In dairying gave figures on the returns for hay when market ed thru the dairy cattle. Claude Wakeland, extension specialist in ontomology, In Idaho, lectured on tho life history, distribution and con trol of alfalfa weevil. L. A. Hunt, manager of the Oregon Cooperative Hay Growers Association, discussed tbo principles and practice ot cooper ative marketing in general and the plan ot organization and the oper ations ot the hay growers organisa tion in particular. Secretary Dee- ltttle of the Ontario Commercial Club, spoke on tho need for more dairy cattle and tho possibility ot It bolng possible to organize an associ ate to finance purchasers of dairy cattle. At the conclusion of the mooting the appointment ot a com mittee ofthree was authorized by those In attendance, for the purpose ot investigating tho marketing ot hay and taking such action as seems necessary under the circumstances. OTHER PROJECTS. One meet ing to assist In getting drainage work started on four small projects on Dead Ox Flat was held. The preliminary organization affoctod. Tho cost, howovor, Is far less than tho dredging method and will probably be less as tho work advances and experience Is gained by tho workmen.
