Joe Carlson and Molly Burgett were ar rested charged with the holdup. Molly Burnett in well known to the civil au thorities of Malheur county, and was .Oder arrest in Vale last January charged with a statutory offense. She pled guilty and was let off with a fine which she paid. She went back to the Mormon Basin country as soon ns liberated and the authorities have been watching her since. The property of the Alaska Northern Railway company from Seward over the first stage o the Journey has been bought for $1, 150,000. The government system, the state ment adds, will Include a 38-mlle branrh to tap the Matanuska coal fields. W. C. EUes Is designated as chairman of the Alaskan Knglneerlng commission, which will build tho road by the president's order. The esti mated cost of the entire system is giv en at $26,800,000. Congress provided not to exceed $35,000,000. Secretary Lane said construction work would be begun at once, and that probably 40 miles of the exten sion of the Alaska Northern from Ship Creek would be completed this year. "The route adopted," said Secretary Lane, "will open up a territory not now served by any railroad line and two of the great coal fields of Alaska, on the Matanuska, with high gnu. bituminous coal, acceptable to the navy, and the other the Tanana field near the Tanana river, with high grade lignite, which will serve the Alaskan interior. . 5 r .. - Government Bureau Fills 1246 Jobe.
