The Parma cheese factory shipped a car of cheese to Portland last week. They have been paying their patrons 80 eenta a pound for butter fat. Frank Weaver and wife have been visiting with relatives and frienda here for a few days. Frank says the crops might have been better in Cow valley this year. Late buyers cannot compete with us nor can we replace the goods to sell at the prices we are now offering them. The play was Peg of My Heart, a comedy drama with a lirsi class company. Attorney Coulter was up from Wei ser Tuesday arguing some cases before Judge HigK, lrtsfl held a seasion of the Circuit Court here to save the expense of a trip to Vale. 11 all the sessions were held here then would be a big saving in expense to the litigants and county. Charles E. Porter, of the Baker Mil ing and Grain Company, was here Tuesday in the interest of his company. He says they are making some con tracts for 1915 wheat at $1 per bushel. Miss Lelia Jones, of Vale, was calling on Ontario friends and relatives Mon day. Miss Jones is very popular here. Mrs ('has. Hecker, who has been in the hospital at Boise for some time, has sufficiently recovered to be taken home. Mrs. Downs, aged 79 years, mother of Thos. Downs, was buried in the city cemetery Monday. I don't have time to write to all of you, so I am going to write this letter and send it to the Argus. I like Salem fine. I go to school and my teachers name is Miss Hays, she is a good teacher and I like her. We pick hazel nuts in the school yard. Mary and I have got two bantam chickens. They are dandy. We had two white rabbits but they got away. We ride on the street cars and go to the movies sometimes. In don't snow here, but it rains a lot. We can't sleigh ride here, but I can ride on my coaster. Shaw who has been visit ing at Baker City, stopped off to visit her daughter, Mrs. M. J. Phillips, as she returned to her home in Emmett. Rev. C. h. Deal went to Boise to preach last Sunday. Rev. Hower filled his pulpit here Sunday morning and evening. He used a skeleton Sunday evening to help illustrate his sermon. His subject was " Habiu." Both ser vices were well attended. The Queen Esther Circle of the M. E. church, met at the home of Mrs. Arth ur Colwell last Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Chas. Rich assisted Mrs. Colwell in entertaining. Each one presented her with a receipt, which, when com piled made a real nice souvenir. The 0. S I .. is preparing to lay heavy raila and make the Payette Valley road strong enough for the 0. S. L. traffic. New ties have been put in and new piling for the bridges and the rails are being distributed along the road bed this waek. The road east of Mr. Dean s is being graveled this week. The roads in this part of Idaho are In good shape for winter. The men of the Methodist church and also the boys over sixteen, will meet in Kpwortn hall next Tuesday evening Mr. Baldridge of Nampa will speak also several other speakers during the evening. The Ladies' Aid will serve a chicken pie supper, at 25c a plate. D. L. Ingard attended the apple show at Ssikaue last week. He was sent us a di legate from the commercial club.
