The last Sunday in Oc- tober the 7th Annual Eagle Valley Grange Fall Festival will take place. Activities will kick off at 4 p.m. and at 5 p.m. the potluck will start. There will be kids’ games, cake walks, Trunk-or-Treat, costume contest, and all manner of fun, including, a raffle,Tractor Parade. For anyone interested in showing off a vintage piece of farming equipment or something new for that matter, this is your op- portunity to share your favorite farm machine with the community. On line condolences may be shared at www.tamispinevalleyfuneralhome. com — Obituaries — Danny Cundiff Hammond Richland, 1936-2016 Danny Cundiff Hammond passed away early Sunday morning, October 9, 2016 in his Danny home with Hammond his family beside him in Boswell, Oklahoma. A Traditional Graveside Service was held on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 ~ 2:00 p.m. at the Eagle Valley Cemetery in Richland, Oregon. Friends were invited to join the family for a potluck recep- tion to be held immediately following the service at the Eagle Valley Grange. Danny Cundiff Ham- mond was born in Salem, Oregon on August 12, 1936 to Alice Agnes Cun- diff Hammond and Daniel Oliver Hammond. Danny was the oldest of three brothers; Steven and Peter. During World War II Danny and his mother traveled the United States by train, living in Bos- ton, West Virginia and New York City as his father served in the Army Aviation Corp. as a Bomb Navigator. Danny attended the New York World Fair, where the first television was on display he was one of the children in the first broadcast . At the end of the war Danny and his mother re- turned to Richland Oregon, were he attended school and his family raised sheep. Danny met Doris Jean Heater in 1950 when she and her family moved to Richland, Oregon. On August 28, 1955, they were married in Richland, Oregon in her grandmoth- ers flower garden. Following their wedding, they moved to Hollywood, California. Where, for the next three years Danny worked in a Dye Studio as a dye technician. He delivered clothing to the movie studios‘ where he met numerous movie stars and also got to watch the production of many Hol- lywood films. In 1958 Danny and Doris returned to Richland, Or- egon and took back up to the life of ranching. They raised their two sons Rod and Ross teaching them the value of good work ethics. Danny was a member of the NW Rodeo Producers and long time Pine Valley Fair Association Member, You would see him at the fair where his sons would be showing their stock. He continued to work the cattle ranch with his wife and sons and then in 2007 he moved his family to Boswell, Oklahoma were he continued with the life of building a ranch, that was so familiar. Danny was preceded in death by his wife Doris, mother Alice Cundiff Sass, father Daniel Hammond, and baby brother Steven. Danny is survived by son, Rodney Walter Ham- mond and daughter-in- law Christine; son Ross Andrew Hammond and daughter-in-law Lynette, all of Boswell, Oklahoma. Brother Peter Sass, and wife Pam of Willamina, Oregon; extended family Leroy Dean and wife; Levi Chamberlin and wife; and the children and grandchil- dren of daughter-in-law Christine. Michael Ham Haines, 1954-2016 Michael “Mike” Ham of Baker City and Haines, Oregon died on Thursday October 6, 2016 at Set- Mike tler’s Park Ham Assisted Liv- ing Facility in Baker City. A private family gathering to honor Mike’s life will be held at a later date. Mike was born to Ver- dice (Van Leuven) and Beryl Ham on January 2, 1954 in Baker, Oregon. He was raised and educated in Baker City, Oregon. Mike was six child of seven children. During his life Mike worked as a logger, miner and a construction worker. He was truly a jack of all trades and could do a little bit of just about everything he was asked. Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing, and mushroom- ing. He thoroughly loved spending time in the outdoors and was truly the happiest when he was spending time in the woods. He is preceded in death by both his parents and grandparents. Mike is survived by his daughter Angela Ham Gale and husband Robert, grandson Branson Gale; companion Tawni Smith; brother Keith Ham and wife Carleen, sisters Ida Personeni, Sharon Pollock and husband Bob, Pam Barker, Iris Craigmile, Ginger Tittle and her hus- band Rick, brother-in-law Ron Carpenter, numerous nieces and nephews. Online condolences may be shared at www.tamispinevalleyfu- neralhome.com Donald C Moss Pendleton, 1925-2016 Donald C Moss, 91, of Pendleton, OR, passed away at his home, with family around him on October 8, 2016. Arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s West & Co Pioneer Chapel in Baker City, OR. Don was born March 27, 1925 in Tamarack, ID, to James C and Marie E. Moss. He enlisted in the Army on January 27, 1944 and served in the Service and Supply Unit aboard the Tugboat, TE-MI-WA-DE, assigned to the Company 355th Harborcraft, which he shared many stories about later in life. He also traveled to Eng- land, France and Belgium before returning to civilian life on June 27, 1946. Don returned to Burns and worked at the Hines Lumber Company in Hines, OR. He married Norma Fal- lon in November 1951 sharing in the lives of three children, Donna, Dwaine and Tammera. Don moved to Tygh Valley in 1966 and began working at the Mt. Fir Lumber Company. He married Juanita Deel on August 25, 1972 in The Dalles, OR. They began their married life with a visit to Crater Lake for their honeymoon. This was the beginning of countless hunting, fish- ing, and camping trips, as well as evening trips to Pine Hollow Reservoir to boat and swim and Sunday drives with picnics they both enjoyed. Don always had a big garden, berry bushes and fruit trees, Don became part of Juanita’s five children, Jerold, Howard, Saundra, Michael and Marilyn’s lives, even though most were out on their own by this time. He was very nurturing, quiet and mild mannered yet always willing to provide any support he could. A very gentle spirit and soul. He worked at Mt. Fir Lumber Company until his retirement and stayed in Tygh Valley until he and Juanita moved to Baker City, OR in 1999. Don leaves behind brothers Jack and Bob, step-children, Howard, Saundra, Michael, Marilyn and Tammera, as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, Juanita, Donna, Dwaine and Jerold; grandchild Jason; five brothers Ralph, Bill, Ron, Frank and Clark; five sisters Anna, Dorothy, Beunita, Katherine and Mary Helen.
