Combs Coalwell Morris Baker City, 1926 - 2015 Betty Morris, 89, of Baker City, Or- egon passed away peace- fully in her Betty home early Morris Tuesday morning, November 24, 2015 after a brief illness. At her request there will not be a service. Betty was born to John and Maggie (Ratliff) Combs on July 18, 1926 in Austin, Oregon. She was the 6th of 10 siblings. She worked hard all her life, always caring for others. Betty married Frank Coal- well in 1948, they had 3 children and were married 30 years. They lived in a small red house in Bates, Or. and that was always home to Betty in later years it became “The Cabin.” Many wonderful and un- forgettable memories were made there. Frank passed away in 1978. In 1981 she married Duane (Swede) Morris. The family moved to Baker City, they were married for 19 years. Betty enjoyed her time with family, loved the holidays, loved to cook and was forever finding treasures at yard sales. She had no limitations, she was always on the go. She told many stories of taking care of her younger siblings and the daily struggles her fam- ily faced living in the old logging town of Austin and Bates, Or. One story shared was of a cold snowy winter day one of her twin sisters who was 4 or 5 years old broke through the ice and fell into the creek and Betty was the only one there to get her out. She was forced to go into the frigid water to rescue her sister. That in itself was horrible, but the worst part was she very pregnant with her first child. Betty saved her sister that day and went on to have a healthy baby later that winter. It was a hard life for all of them, and Betty was a true inspiration of strength and resilience. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Maggie, her hus- band’s Frank Coalwell and Dwayne “Swede” Morris; two brothers Harold and Bob Combs; six sisters Alice Hatfield, Anna Nault, Shirley Endicott, Elaine (Kitty) Spivey, Jackie Hall, and Janis Clark; and great granddaughter Lorri Kaneaster. Betty is survived by children Jerry E. Coalwell (Marla) of John Day, OR. Linda K Gayhart of Baker City, OR, and Dianne B. Bogart (Scott) of Ken- newick, Washington; step-daughter Darleen Howland, (Mike), 12 Grandchildren, 20 Great Grandchildren, and one Great Great Grandson Ely of Pasco WA.; sister Lois Bidasolo of Prairie City, Oregon numerous nieces and nephews. “We will always carry your memory in our hearts” Those who wish to make a memorial donation in memory of Betty may do so to Heart & Home Hospice through Tami’s Pine Valley Funeral Home PO Box 543 Halfway, Oregon 97834. Wesley Lloyd Randall was born on February 20, 1939 in Weiser, Idaho to Chester Lorenzo and Faye Alida (Frasier) Randall. Wes started school in Weiser but in 1945 Chester, a rancher, moved the family to Richland, Oregon, where Wes and his siblings grew up on the Randall Ranch. When Wes and Marilyn visit John and Dorothy, they climb the same stairs to bed that he did as a young boy. Wes attended New Bridge grade school, and then graduated from Eagle Valley High School in 1957. As a young man Wes left Eagle Valley to strike out on his own and while staying with family in Payette he was introduced to Marilyn Billings. Wes, always one to tease, liked to tell his boys that he found himself in trouble one day and the judge gave him the choice to marry Marilyn or go to jail. Truth be told, Marilyn was the love of his life and his best friend. He happily married her in Payette on June 4, 1961 shortly after she graduated from high school. In 1962, Tony Lynn Randall was born, fol- lowed by Timothy Andrew Randall in 1965. Wes dearly loved his boys and worked hard to give them a good start in life. Wes and Marilyn started their married life in On- tario, Oregon but soon bought their first home in Weiser, Idaho where Wes managed Roy and Owens Tire store. He later joined the sales team for Champion Home Builders, a company that took him from Weiser, Idaho to Exeter, California. The families five years in California were filled with fun adventures from deep sea fishing to Yosemite National Park and Disney- land. When the opportunity arose Wes, who remained with Champion until his retirement, moved Wes back to Weiser where he and Marilyn purchased property on the Weiser Flat that they still call home today. Throughout his life Wes and Marilyn enjoyed fish- ing, camping, skiing, boat- ing, travel, crafts, horses, dogs, and much more. Wes was always up to something but most of all he loved his family. John and Dorothy, Frank and Shirley, Eth and Bob, and Clinton and Glenda have all been siblings but also friends. He loved and was proud of his children Tony and Shelly, and Tim and especially his grandchil- dren Eric, Katrina, Scott, Samantha, and Andy. Named “Bapa” by the first grandson learning to talk, Wes enjoyed and had a special relationship with each of them. A few months ago Wes, Marilyn, John, and Doro- thy took a road trip to visit Mount Rushmore because Wes “always wanted to see those presidents.” He spent Thanksgiving with Tony and Shelly, Eric, Scott, Katie, Caleb, and Ben and enjoyed meeting his new great grandson Jeffery. On December 6, 2015, while napping in his recliner, Wes passed away at his son’s home in Bel- levue, Idaho with Marilyn at his side. His family is comforted by his peaceful passing. Wes was proceeded in death by his parents, aunts and uncles. He is survived by his siblings, John (Dorothy) Randall, Frank (Shirley) Randall, Ethelyn (Robert) Williams, and Clinton (Glenda) Randall, his Chil- dren Tony (Michele) Ran- dall and Timothy Randall, his grandchildren Eric, Katrina (Caleb), Scott, Samantha (Chris), and Andrew (Ashley), great- grandchildren Beniaih and Jeffery Morris, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
