T ak e five pounds of rip e tom atoes,
tw o pounds of sugar, th ree lentous cut
In dice and one cupful of citron. Cook
u n til thick. W hile still hot add l\i,
cupfuls of raisin s and one cupful o f
w alnuts.
R hubarb Conserve.
T ak e five pounds of sugar, five
pounds of rhubarb, four oranges, tw o
pounds o f raisins. C ut up the fru it,
rem ove th e seeds from tlie oranges and
p u t through n m eat grinder. Cook all
to g eth er until thick.
C herry Preserves.
T ak e tw o pin ts of sugar, one sm all
cupful of w ater, boil until it hairs, add
th ree pin ts of p itted cherries and boil
fifteen m inutes. P our into an earth en
dish and let stand overnight. In th e
m orning seal in sterile cans, cold.
G rape Conserve.
T ake seven pounds of ripe grapes.
P ulp them , rem oving th e seeds, then
to th e skins and seeds add the grated
rind and strain ed Juice of four oranges,
th e juice of tw o lemons, boll to g e th er
fifteen m inutes, then add five pounds
of sugar, one pound of seeded raisins,
one p in t of canned cherries d rained
from th e ir Juice and one-half pound
of pecan m eats, and one cupful of w a­
ter. Cook fifteen m inutes then pour
Into glasses or Jars.
