i Miss Vale Hiltibrand was here from Corvallis last week. Altho the town is closed the schools are open to the extent that each teacher can tutor four pupils at one time. iMiiiamaiiMiiiaiiii Try Once Mrs. A. H. Craven was taken to a Salem hospital one day this week. ¡She has been poorly for some time and it was thought best to take her to a hospital where she would receive the best o f care and treatment. Cleve Robinson was an arrival in Independence this week having returned from a cruise to Hawaii in the mer chant marine. Parker received his discharge from the army last week and returned home. During the war he was station ed in the Puget sound cities. His last days in the military service were spent in a hospital, sickness preventing him from being discharged a month sooner.
