The Kugene evniirating plant is running to full cnpr.city nml is putting about SOU buidiols of prunes through the dry injr room every 21 hours. I'ncking of the dried fruit for shipment will begin in about 10 day a. It is stated that an unusuully Inrge pro jMirtion of the prune crop ia being marketed ns fieah fruit than ever before, und this fact, in connection with the unfortunate prevalence of dry rot in nearly nil sections of the state, is expected to result in a marked decrease in the dried product. Knrly quotations for dried prunes nro very attractive, indi cations pointing to nn unusual European demand later in tht year. The region around Dallas bus this yeur turned off an immenhv crop of hops of unusually high quality and for some time the city has been overrun with buyers wh art anxious to relieve the growers of their holdings. A few sales have been made at 2G cents, but many or the farmers are holding for lietter prices, nnd it is thought there will be no general unloading until the price reaches HO cents. Shippers are havinf ilifliculty in se curing; cars to handle the hups, nnd as the warehouse is full the de livery of the product will have to stop unless the car shortage is re lieved. It is stilted by officials of the Northwestern Fruit Exchange that over anxiety on the part of growers to dispose of their fruit is rosting them many housiifiils of dollars, as many of them have sold their apple at prices 25 to ,r,0 cents below the actual market value of the fruit They state this is one year when the grower can practically name his own price for the better grades of apples and that a little care and patience in marketing will icsult in hnndsome additions to the bank occount.
