This report indicated the craft had veered to the south ward and probably would skirt the eastern coast of -Newfound lanl. At 7 a. m. Orecuwieh time (3 a, m. iNew York-time) the K 34 was retorted at 48.40 north latitude and 40.30 west longitude, (icbout 200 miles off the .Newfoundland coast and 325 miles northeast of St. Johns), indicating she was still bearing to the southward JEIfJT PUIS BIG PLANE OUT OF ORDER Machine Hits Soft Spot In Landing And Damages Propeller. Accidents will happen in the best of families as well as with the best of airplanes, even a J.V4D. Yesterday afternoon while .iruking a landing at Olott field, the plane driv en by Lieutenant Floyd ltrowne hap pened to land in a part of the field where there was a deep furrow that had Wen covered when the lieUl vras rolled down. The airplane wheels iu striking along this furrow, sank several inches and finally refused to move, resulting in the airplane tipping forward on the propellors. One of the blades was brok en. Lieutenant Browne immediately war ed to Portland for an extra propellor which is expected to arrive late this evening or tomorrow morning. Announcement is made that the flight promised will take place as soon as the plane is repaired and that all who have registered for an air flight will yiven same, if it is neeesnary for the avis-tor tb remain until next week. After the plane was properly tuned up yenterday, the first to take flight with the aviator was Robert E. 1'cr lieh. a mechanic with the Valley Motor company. The first women in the city to take the flight was Mrs. Gordon Wallace. Others who saw things as they are from above were Gordon Wallace, R. W. Hartman and Earle W, McDon ough. iho accident happened to the plane when R. O. Hansen was a passenger.
