The union revival meetings at the
United Evangelical church, Cottage
street, near Center, still continues to
grow in interest and in attendance. Dt.
C. a Poling, of Pittsburg, Pa., is
preaching every evening; song servie
at 7:30 p. m. Dr. Poling is one of the
leading men of the United Evangelic
al church and the foremost advocate
of organic union between the Evangel
ical branches. He is 'a fluent speaker,

Salem faces the possibility of paying
$1.50 more a month for its business
phones and 75 cents- a month more for
private phones and the elimination of
two party telephones. City Attorney
Macy told the city council last night
that the elcphone companies were mak
ing a desperae effort before the Pub
lic service commission to secure this'
advance rate. Another hearing will be
