G., last night in the armory, final plons were gotten under way for put ting over their dance which is to be given on Washington's birthday. Tindnll, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles ' Tindall. The funeral was held at the home this afternoon, Rev. Holt of tho Baptist church conducting. WARING At the home on Garden Road near this city, Tuesday morn ing nt fivo o'clock, Thos. White Waring, aged about 80 years. Death was tho result of heart failure. The funeral will bo hold at the Rigdon chapel tomorrow afternoon at two o'clock, Rev. R. N. Avison conducting and the burial will be in City View cemetery. Mr. Whito had bee na resi dent here for about 8 years. He leavei two sons and one daughter residing here, and another sou residing m Cul iforuia. DAY At tho family residence, east Center street, this morning at 2:40 o'clock, Alvin E- Day, aged 64 years and 7. month. Death was the result of cancer' of the stomach, after an jllnoss of several months. Mr. Dny was a native of Virginia, coming to tins state thirty years ago and making his residence in thin city during tho past 28 years. He was a member of the local class of tho Inter national Biblo Students Association. He leaves a wife and the following children: Guy, Glenn, Kenneth and Beryl Dny all of Portland; and two daughters residing in this city. Hattie Day and Mrs. Irwin Wroten. The chil dren were all at the bedside with the exception of Glenn Day, who is with tho U. S, army in France. Tho funeral serviles will be held at the Webb ft Clongh lhnpel Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Rev. N. Lewton, of Port land conducting, end the burial will be in the Leo iMssion cemetery. In addition to this commit tee of the council Mayor Albin has ap pointed a committee of citizens at mrgo made up of tho following: Curtis Cross, Daniel Webster, Clifford W. Fittg Market. tf Dance tonight at Moose hall. o The proprietors of the Mitoma Hop rairch, five miles above Salem on the river, are making preparations to in crease the big acreage of hops this sea son, making a total of nearly 120 acres. They have employed sb their foreman Frank Fluke, formerly foreman of the Wigrich ranch at Independence. They estimate roughly that this ranch will produce about 250,000 pounds of hops this season, and that at the present prico of hops the ranch would net them about $180 nn aero. As n evidence that tho hop industry is still very much alive, Messrs. Durbin & Conoyer, as agontB for tho xfirm of Wignn, Richard son & Co., of London, are now offering 30 cents a pound for tho 1919 crop. Secretary Baker states that a war weapon is being perfected which is ca pable of dropping electrically controll ed bombs containing 500 pounds of ex plosives upon cities 150 miles distant.
