The Seattle Star, in En editorial on the general strike, says: "On tho issue of Americanism Seattle made no compromise. And on that is sue Seattle will never and shall never uiake s compromise. "When the principle of American de mocracy was attacked thousands of miles away and across the ocean Seattle came through one hundred per cent. "And in thig later attack on those same principles here at home Seattl' is again coming through one hundred per cent. "And in this-later attack on those same principles here at heme, Seattle is again coming through one hundred per cent American. ' "Just as the American part of Se attle labor stood by Seattle in the world war test, so that American part of Se attle labor will come through again. j'fhey are coming through. Temporarily I misled by a criminal gang of un-American lerders, Seattle union labor can be depended upon not only to repudiate that false leadership but to sec to it that punishment goes with the repudia tion. And on the other hand Seattle's American labor esn depend upon it that all Seattle will stand by them. Brit ish universities are preparing to receive as students hundreds of American boyf who discontinued their college courses to to war. The students will be received nnder a plan formed by government authori tics in consultation with American army officials. Mure than 250,000 American boys are continuing thoir studies at American schools established behind the lines in France. Tho number of schooLj soon is to be increased to 3,000. The war zone schools were established and-arc being operated under direction of the Y. M. C. A., which registered more thaa 47,000 teachers in the Uni ted States ghting forces.
