lighting line. He was commissioned
second lieutenant on Oct. 1, and on

Last night was one of the coldest of
the year with the mercury in the gov
ernment's official thermometer drop
ping to 32. During the first week of
last April the cold snap brought the
mercury down to 30 one night and
again to 32. The coldest night of this
year was Jan. 31 when there was the
low record of 23, and 29 on Feb. 21

J. O. Perry met with a painful acci
dent yesterday ovening in Portland
whilo hurrying to board the Oregon
Eloctric at the Seward hotel. In step
ping from the sidewalk, he slipped and
fell striking his right olbow on the
curbing. Today he had an X-ray taken
of his arm to determine his injuries.
