The six cylinder, high speed, valve-in-head motor has remark: ble power and "pep" It is quiet and smooth running, with the latest improved method of carburetion and ignition, and requires little attention. The improved velvet-acTmg clutch is a delight to experienced motorists. Its smooth engagement eliminates jerks and jumps in starting the car. Very little pres sure is required, and gear shifting is a pleasure instead of a constant worry. A heavy service differential of the four pinion type is an important feature of El gin construction. It is the famous Brown-Lipe-Chapin bevel gear differential, run-, ning on large annular ball bearings. . ' A special method of underslung, cantilever, rear spring suspension was origin ated by Elgin engineers, and this construction is an exclusive Elgin feature. All models are built upon a standard chassis with 118-inch wheelbase. This model is named after the famous Elgin War Scout, which broke all world's records in its 6202 mile run from Chicago to the Pacific Coast and back again, with sealed hood and chassis. The Military Scout is the popular four-door sport type with low, beveled-edge straightlme body and slanting windshield. The rakish, snappy design is pleasingly artistic and distinctive. Although termed a 4-passenger car, it seats five in comfort. This model carries a special top, with beveled plate glass windows - in rear and rear quarter curtains. . . , Finished in two color combinations: military blue body and hood, with black enam eled radiator, fenders and running gear, white wheels and white stripe around body just below the bevel.
