THIRD LIBERTY LOAH GETS GREAT BOOST IN CLOSING DAYS Salem Bond Buyers Are Send rci Capital Gty Over Top ; Splendidly Subscriptions for the Third Liberty Loan have tak.'.i a sudden jump in the city the past few days. One bank re ports subscriptions amounting - to $20,000 coming in this week, and an other bank $5,000 today. The largest uregon fcti'.te Hospital tnat invested in the Third Liberty loan the $2o,000 re ceived from the state. The Oregon Electric wired F. G. Deckebach, chair man of the Marion county Liberty Loan committee, of its purchase in Salem of $5,000 worth of the loan. The Shell Company of California also 4nnouncod its purchase iu Salem of $2,500 worth of bonds. It is rumored that a large corporation doing business in Marion county will invest liberally in the Third Liberty bonds. Taking everything into consideration, for the past few days business has been boom ing in Salem for the Third Liberty loan. Word was received late this after noon that the Hammond umber. Com pany employes of Mill City have sub scribed $24,000 and an" additional $23,000 is ,to come in from the San FrFancisjo ofr'ice as the portion of the Hammond Lumber Company's own subscription, making a total of $."3,000 coming frtin Mill City. Funeral Services of Late Samuel McBride I Funeral sorvices over the late Sam uel B. McBrido, whoso death occurred yesterday aftornoon at his country homo in south Salem, will be held Mon day'; forenoon at 10:30 o'clock from tho Bigd'on chapol. Mr. McBrido was 83 years of age and death followed an illness of sev eral years. He is survived by a daugh ter, Mrs. W. H. Boot, of this city, and by two other daughters and one son, as follows: Miss Ella McBrido' of Se attle, Miss Lizzie McBrido of Fresno, Calif., and Haddon McBrido of Dixon, Calif. He was the grandfather of Mrs. Asahel Bush. Mr; MeBride had mado his home here tho past eiglit years, coming here from Portland whero' ho retired from busi ness eight years ago and selecting the fine country home he has since mode his residence. Ho crossed tho plains in the early days,' settling in Portland, and then returned to Iowa to got his family. Ho started the Columbia Car riage works in Portland, which he con ducted till he retired and came to Sa lem. Rev. Carl H. Elliott will have charge of the services.
