Word was telegraphed to the war
department at Washington, D. C, today
by the Salem Commercial club, putting
up to the department a proposition that
would mean a saving to the government
in the cost of building its aeroplanes
and also an additional factory for
Salem. -
The club, through its manager, Mr.
McDaniel. has' been- looking into the
matter pretty thoroughly and has come
to the conclusion that Salem is the
logical point at which the government J

which are to be constructed. Salem

admitted the Yosemite National park.
This good news was made public after
months of agitation by motorcyclists all
over the country.
Heretofore tno two-wheeler has not
been permitted in the park because the
park roads have been considered too
steep and dangerous for motorcycle traf
fic. The roads have recently been im
proved until now there are none or
them that are not safe for travel in
any kind of conveyance, and during the

no travel in the park by horse-drawn
vehicles. It is the secretary's desire
to permit the freest possible use of the
national parks to all of the people.
It is expected that from now on, and
especially next season, travel through
the Yosemite will be wonderfully in
creased as a result of this new regula

Stolen Goods From Store ,
In FaBs City Recovered
In Second Hand Store
The Salem police have recovered
from a local second hand store part of
the 'goods stolen last week from a store
in Falls Citj. The two men who are be
lieved to have committed tho theft
were arrested in Albany Sunday by
Sheriff Orr of Polk county nd tak-jn
through here to Dallas where they are
held in jail. Chief of Police Copcr
learned that one of the men who was
arrested was offering goods for saM
at two or three second hand stores and
within an hour after one of the stores
hail taken some of the goods the chief
had them in his possession. The owner
of the goods in Falls City identified
part of the goods as among those stol
en from him. but there were several ar
ticles, including a pair of shoes and
mackinaw, both new, which he could
not identify and they are being held
