Wall Street Chirks Up
Over Government Action
New York, Sept. 21. The New York
Evening Sun financial review today
said: '
Wall Street wore a more eheerful as
pect today than it has for a long time
because one of the lone standing un
certainties has been removed by the
oinciai announcement of the govern
ment copper price at 23 V& cents a
pound. Not only was this price a bet
ter one than many people had been led
to expect, but as a harbinger of Wash
ington 'a fairness toward other commod
ities, particularly steel, it was very
gratefully received. The summoning of
judge Gary and other leading steel
men to the capital for a conference
gave ground for belief that the steel
price announcement might be forthcom
ing within the next few days.
The stock market behaved in a man
ner suggesting that the copper price
fixed upon was not altogether a sur
prise. The sugar stocks were depressed
to some extent by the price agreement
and the handing over of the market in
that staple to an international board.
News developments were generally of
a favorable nature.
giving the state board examination to
several prospective druggists who are'
just at present serving their country in
the ranks. The regular examination for
pharmacists will not be held until Oc
tober 16, but as the chances arc the
boys may be far away by that date,
Mr. Ward did the right tiling by going
to the eamp and holding the examina
tions. Clearance sale of sewing machines
