has been getting into real life today in

Phillip Elliot and Dewey Probst as
the opposing candidates, resulting in

FEALIX On the Southern Pacific
train, between Woodburn and Salem,
Thursday evening, May 10, 1917,
Charles Fralix. Colored.
His death was duo to hemmorhage of
the lungs. Ho was porter on the. train
and become suddenly ill when near
Woodburn, dying before the train reach
ed Salem. He was about 40 years of
age.
The body is now at the undertaking
parlors of'Webb & dough. Funeral ar
rangements have not as yet been made,
awaiting word from relatives in Port
land and Seattle.
MECHEM In Salem, Wednesday, May
1(5, 1917, Mrs. Elizabeth Mechem, at
, the age of 89 years.
Her home was formerly in Portland.
The funeral services were held this
morning from the chapel of Webb &
Clough and were conducted by the Rev.
W. E. Ingalle. Burial was in the Odd
Fellows' cemetery. A. C. Wright and
F. E. Wright, of Portland, nephews,
were present at the funeral.

years, 5 months and 18 days.
The funeral services .were held this
afternoon 'from the chapel of Webb &
Clouirh with burial in the Odd Fellows
cemetery.

LA BARRE rhyllis Vivian La Bane,
the seven davs old daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Archie La Barre, living four
miles west of Salem, died this morn
ing at the home of her parents.
The funeral -service will be held Sat
urday morning at 10:30 o'clock, from
the chapel of Webb & Clough and will
be conducted by the Rev. Warren. Bur
ial will be in tho Lee Mission cemetery.
