Brilliantly lighted Christmas trees aad family reunions will be the bright particular events of the next few days scores of families, where children, and children 's children will gather from newer homes built around the paternal roof. Looking ahead in the calendar, the next week is brimful and bubbling over with festivities, principally dances. Opening the gayeties after the Christ ina holiday is the premier of the .Sub scription club's dancing parties. These dances, which although are among the moat lormnl functions of every Benson, always savor of the informality that in necessary to thorough enjoyment; and are eagerly anticipated. Merrill Bruce Moores - of Portland are visiting t "Labish Meadows," the M. L. The ceremony will be solemnized at high noon at the residence of the groom's parents, on North Winter street and there will be large gathering of friends and relatives. C McDougal of Buffalo, New York, will arrive in Salem soon after the first of the year to visit her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. aud Mrs. Wal ter L. McDougal. Perhaps the most important event scheduled in the calendar for next week is the premier of this season's Sub scription club dances which will be a smart event of Wednesday night at the Moose hall. Last season these jiarties were the gayest and most brilliant functions of the entire winter, and society folk, who are members of this exclusive club are on the qui vivc for the opening of this season's festivities. There will be a number of guests in Salem for the affair ad some of the members will entertain with dinner and supper parties. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas A. Livcsley have gone to Vancouver, B. C, for the holidays and will be the guests of Mrs, Livcsley 's mother, Mrs. K. W. DeBeek'. Accompanying them were their three small children and maid. They left Thursday and will be away for about two weeks. Miss Margaret Rodger went to Port land Friday to attend the annual danc ing party given at Miss Catliu's school for girls. Miss Isobel Young, the charming daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Percy Young of Albany, who is home from Stanford University tor the holidays, will be a guest of the Robert dutUncey Bishops for the Subscription dance. Clarence Bishop of Pendleton also will be the guest of his family for Christmas and will probably remain .over for the party Wednesday night. An event that will be unique and one of the gayest, of the Christmas hol idays, will be the Oriental dancing pur ty for which the George Palmer Put nnms will be hosts at their residence, Tuesday night. The affair is eagerly anticipated and all sorts of gny costumes ore being planned for the occasion. Their guests who will be a coterie of the married set, will number about 40. Mrs. A. N, Bush gave a small chil dren' party on Wednesday afternoon, in honor of the fourth birthday anni versary of her little grandson, Asahel, Jr. It was a charming and informal little affair, only a few kiddies gath ering for an afternoon of frolic and the party. C. Franklin was hostess at her home on the Wallace road Wednesday afternoon. The members of the Sweet Briar club and several additional guests shared in the festivity, and tho rooms were appropriately decorated for the occar sion with holiday greens, and wreathes of holly, while the mantle piece was gaily adorned with two sparkling Christmas trees. At feature of the afternoon was the distribution of pretty gifts from one member to another, by the Misses Mar garet Steiner, Mary Christine Fergu son and Lockwood Franklin. The hostess was assisted in serving dainty refreshments bv Mrs. J. B. Olinger and Miss Helen Taylor. Besides the club guests Mrs. Franklin asked Mrs. F. J. Derby of National Bridge, N. Y., Mrs. A. Olinger of Ever ett, Washington, and Mrs. Ralph Chaf- lee or Pay ley, Alberta, Canada. Mrs. Clyde C. Graham has gone to Portland, where she will be the guest of relatives for a couple of weeks. She left Thursday and will be joined today by Mr. Graham, who will remain un til after Christmas. Justice and Mrs. Lawrence T. Har ris are passing the Christmas holiday at their ranch on the McKennie river, near Coburg, Mrs. Harris left Friday to attend the annual banquet of the Order of the Eastern Star, in Eugene and Mr. Harris joined her today. Thursday evening Mr. and Mrs. Harris "were hosts for an informal dinner party. The table was decked with Christmas greenery and novelties. Covers were placed for Mr. and Mrs. George M.
