Mr. David Thompson, of Silverton, spent a few days ot his home in Lyons. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Whiteman, of Aums villew, spent Thanksgiving with her mother, Mrs. B. M. Woodworth. Miss Agnes Brown has been on the sick list. Mr. Percy Hiatt returned to Albany Sunday morning to attend school after having a week's vacation. The unexpected snow that fell Tues day morning was welcomed by the school children. Miss Blanche White spent the week end at her home. Mrs. Clara Brown spent the week-end in Portland visiting with her folks. Mr. and MrB. William Killer made a business trip to Aumsville Friday. Miss Eva and Alta Hiatt stayed with Mrs. Kdler during the bad weather so as to attend school. Mr. Clyde McRne, who has been ill, is slowly improving. Mi'. Stanley Brown spent the week end with his parents at Lyons. Miss Mabel and Zoe Track spent a few day at. their home. Dogs are causing some trouble and loss among the shcop owners of this vicinity. Makes Burglars Look, at the Little Bird Dallas Schools Closed On Account of Measles (Capital Journal Special Service.) Dallas, Or., Dee. 9. At a meeting of the Dallas school directors Wednesday night it was decided to close the pub lic schools of the city for a period of 10 days on account of the measles epi demic that is raging in the city. The high school classes -will not be affected by the order however as long as the attendance is normal. The action was taken upon recommendation of Prof. W. I. Forn who explained to the board that tho attendance in spme of the low er grades was cut down to almost noth ing on account of measles and colds. City health officer, Dr. B. H. MeGal lou has established a strict quarantine vlrerevcr measles occur and in this way it is hoped to stamp out the disease at an early date. Goes to Attend Convention. U. S. Grant of this city, one of the most prominent Angora goat breeders in the United States, left the first of the week for Galveston, Texas, to at tend the annual convention of the Na tional Mohair Growers' association of which he is president. Mr. Austin plans to make several towns in the valley in the interest of his business and will no doubt succeed in the venture.
