The month's exports totaled $490,000 000, a recession of $24,400,000 from the high record made in September. They arc, however, 4(1 por cent more than the total of $:C((i,200,000 for Oc tober, J915, and 150 per cent in excess of the total for October, 1914, which was 194,7O0,000. The year which end ed with October last gave an export to- tai or :i,i::n,uuu,ouu, compared with $3, 319,000.000 for 1914-15 and $2,141,000, 000 for 1913-1914. October imports aggregated $170,400, 000, an increase of $12,400,000 over September. October, 1915, gave a to tal of $149,200,000, and October. 1914, $138,100,000. Special meetings were held Monday in several road districts throughout the county for the levying a tax for better roads wiil be continued during the en suing year. In district No- 14, under the supervision of I.awson O. Hadley a six mill tax was voted, which indi cates that the taxpayers in that section of the country propose to continue in the better roads movement until they have accomplished the desired results. Other districts voted along the' same line, but District 13, over which I. W. Last year there was much road im provement made in this district by rea son of the levy made a year ago, but this year a majority of the taxpayers in that district decided to abandon the work for the present and the special tux question was voted down by a small majority. Oscar Htorsli has purchased a tract of laud from Arthur Holmrt north of the Silver Fulls Timber company's pond, and across the county road, lie ulso prrchased five cottages which were located uear the Abiqua mill. Mr. Htor sli will have the buildings moved upon the, land recently purchased and rent them to mill men. Hilverton Appeal. Townley-Moaeson Wedding. A quiet wedding took place in Fort laud Wednesday, November 29, 1910, when Miss Anna M. Mosesnn, daughter of Mrs. Kmelina Anderson, became the 'wife of (1. A. Townley. The wedding was attended only by a few close friend. The bride is a South Dakota I girl, having been a resilient of Oregon but three years, bhe is a bright and charming young woman. Mr. Townley was until one year ago machinist at Eastman Bros. garage where he made many Yriends.
