The Maxwell laboratory also has it
own heating department. This is a
heat-treating apparatus iu miniature. It
is an electric furnace, in which a tem
perature of 2.208 degress Fahrenheit
may be attained, and Is used considerab
ly for experimental purposes.
A dozen experts divide the work be
tween the metallurgical and chemical
laboratories, the various grades of gaso
lino and lubricating oils being tested
in the chemical laboratory.
All the raw materials that go into
