H. Ackennan of the Monmouth Normal
school gave an address on the subject:
"Some Planks of a Teacher's hthical
Problem," which was warmly received
bv the teachers. President asked the
question: "Do Teachers Have a Pro
fession as Do Doctors, Lawyers, and
others?'" and in his lecture he an
swered the question in the affirmative.
One of the planks he announced was,
not knowingly to recouimind a person j
for another's position until that posi
tion is known to be open as it is un
professional to apply for a position un
til it is known that the holder is go
ing to quit. Another plauk In season
and out of season to stand for a
trained teacher, a professional teacher.
A third plank: '' I 11 never underbid,
which plunk received geueral approba
tion.
Other planks dealt with the loyalty
of the tencsher to tire school board,
with relations to other teachers. The
lecture was full of instruction and wis
dom for the young teachers who thor
oughly upreciated it.
R.' L. Yoiuig spokie on the subject,
'Teaching on a Level with the Pupil's
Experience," and stated it was neces
sary for the teacher to be interested
in the children, to have a love for
them. He said it seems the child has
an intuitive ability to read the teach
er's heart and know ' whether the in
structor is sympathetic or cold.
Other speakers took up departmental
subjects.

Later Mrs. Anna Rodgers Fish gave
readings on selected subjects.
The sessions closed with an address
