No season in recent years has continued so lute as the present. Last year at this time, the season was decidedly on the wane. This year while the traffic is not so great as during the middle of the- month, it is substantial and reg ular. Newporters say that September is the prettiest month of the year at the beach. The days are characterized, they say, by a wealth of suns'.iine and an absence of the nor 'west winds. The beautiful coast flowers grow in riotous abundance. Mr. and Mrs. A. N. Moores of Sa lem are among the week's arrivals at the' beach and will pass their vacation here. Miss Paula Linn of Salem, who has been passing the summer at Stormfield cottage, Nye Beach, leaves today for Portland whore she will enter Miss Cat lin's school in September. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cooper and children of Portland motored from Portland during the week and are es tablished in their cottage, Kose City Lodge, for a month's stay. The Misses Dora and Stanis Andre sen of Salem are enjoying a vacation at the beach as residents of Tent city. Miss Dora Andresen is connected with the staff of the Daily Capital Journal. Miss Helen Price of Cottage Grove is listed among Saturday's registra tions at the Parker house. Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Dean and Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Dean of Portland are housed in one of the cottages at Whit ten 's camp ground. Dr. and Mrs. H. H. dinger and son, Harold, of Salem viBited Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Watson at Pine Lodge recently. The dingers came to Newport in their car. Dr. and Mrs. M. L. Thompson and Mrs. F. M. Hollwarth of Palls City drove to Newport this week in Dr. Thompson 's ear for a few days sojourn. Dr. Thompson is a pioneer druggist of the Polk city. Kalph Coleman of Corvallis passed the week end at Nye Beach. Mr. Cole man is a student at the Oregon Agri cultural College. . Prof, and Mrs. Albert Perfect have returned to their homo in Eugene after passing three weeks at Sea Crest. E. 1. Holmes of Portland arrived on a Saturday' boat and is registered at the Hotel Kolly. Mrs. Frank I. Ball and daughter, Miss Helen Ball, and son, Frank Ball. Jr., of Portland are here for a several days sojourn at the seashore. Clara Wyse of Harrisburg arrived during the past week and is staying at the Grnand. The Misses Althea and Florence Each and Charity Wilson have returned to their homes in Salem after enjoying a three weeks outing at Nye Beach. Kanie P. Bankliead, principal of the public school of Shaniko, after passing two weeks at this beach, departed for bis home on a Friday boat. Mrs. James R. Carleton and son of Salem were arrivals at the Abbey a few days ago. Mr. Carleton is assistant state superintendent of public instruction. X.TS. J. F. Friar of Perrydale arrived at the beach last Saturday and is stay- ing at the Hotel Kelly. Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Goodlovc of Eu gene arrived at the Copeland house tho last of the week. R. A. Cowden and daughter, Miss Palm Howden, of Silverton were recent guests at a Nye Beach hotel. Mr. and Mrs. Edwin F. Fortmiller of Albany left during the past week for their home in the Hub city after passing two weeks at Nye Beach. Mr, Fortmiller is associated with the Fort miller Furniture company of Albany. Mrs. M. G. Tobey nnd Miss Vera Tobey of Eugene are enjoying nn out ing at Nye Beach. They are staying at the Damon. Dan Johnson and family, C. F. Sox and Joseph H. Hulston drove to Mew port from Albany Saturday by automo bile and stopped at the Iminon. Mrs. L. Mickelson, Mrs. W. R. Kane and Miss Edith Brotherton of Salem are located in Uncle Sam's cabin for an indefinite stay. Mr. and Mrs. L. V. Roake of Oregon City are included among the residents of Cozy camp. Mrs. J. C. Campbell and son of Sa lem are located in one of the apart ments at the Bradshaw. Mrs. B. A. Kliks and Mrs. Martha Schweigert of McMSnnville are estab lished in one of the cottages at Sea Crest for an indefinite stay. Roy Wi. Addison of Independence arrived in Newport Saturday. Miss Ethel Tooze of Salem was the hostess at a delightful breakfast party at. the Harkelroad cottage Sunday morning in honor of Miss Paula Linn, who leaves today for Portland. Miss Clara Conklin, Mrs. George Quayle, Miss Hazel Olcson and Kalpn Quayle of Eugene are established in one of the cottages at Tent city for a month's soiourn. Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Miles of Mcd ford arrived at Nye Beach Saturday and stopped at the New ( till House. Mr. anil Mrs. F. N. Toothacre of Sa lem who have been located in one of the Cherry city cottages left Friday for their home. Allan Jones of Salem left Wednes day for his home after an outing -at t nc seashore. Air. Jones is conneciea with the supreme court library. Rev. and Mrs. D. H. Lech of Cor vnllis are among the week 's arrivals in Newport and will remain for a two weeks' stay. Reverend Leech is pas tor of the First Methodist church of Corvollis and formerly held pastorates at Salem and Woodburn. Mr. and Mrs. Percy M. Vniney of Salem reached tho seaside Friday and stopped at the Copeland. Mr. and Mrs. I. L.
