THE MARKETS t
The following prices for fruits
and vegetables are those asked by
the wholesaler of the retailer, at-d
not what is paid to the producer.
All other p.-ices are those paid the
producer. Corrections are mado
daily.
Tprtland wheat buyers laid low yes
terday as there was considerable doubt
as to which way the market would
jnmp and tho buyers played sufc with a
waiting game. With Chicago off five
cents a bushel yesterday, the general
market was weak, although the local
price Beeined to hold at $1.
The egg market is showing consider
able strength in Portland and this will
uaturally be reflected locally if the
market holds up.
The refineries in the cast announced
a 5 cents a hundred reduction in sugar
which has been reflected in the local
price. Women may now buy sugar for
canning about half a cent a pound
cheaper than last week.
