Geo. Oglesby returned Thursday from
Xewport where he went as a delegate
from the local camp of t'ue W. O. W. to
attend the Woodman Convention. There
were 111 delegates attending. Mr.
Oglesby was chairman of the commit
tee on Resolutions, which adopted a
scathing resolution concerning Con
gressman Jlawley's activities aa a
Woodman, receiving mileage and com
pensation from the W. O. W. and salary
and mileage from the United States.
The Newport banquet of sea deli
cacies and other Oregon luxuries, to
gether with other features of Newport
hospitality had the delegates down to
a frazzle loath to leave, but glad to

county court- Wednesday afternoon
on the proposed construction of a
reinforced concrete bridge at Inde
pendence was that of Hnook & Traver
of iSulem. Their price was $4,S02 and
their bid was accompanied by the usual
check. The bridge will span the river
at North Main street, Independence.
The contract has not been awarded.
