M B A A Bathing Season Opens and Closes-Mill Creek No Palm Beach The bathing season was opened in Salem last night under the bridge across Mill creek at the corner of Fourteenth street and Asylum avenue. Fflur shiv ering "bathers" were conducted to the water's edge by a lusty group of their betters and invited to try the water. Two of the victims waited In and nfK ed their heads with a "peace at any price" expression and two resisted. They were not too proud to fight but they went in Just the same and nil over at that. One decided to take time by the fore locks and yell "help" before he hit the water, but his cry was interrupted in the middle by the contact of his head with the surface of the chilly creek. He got as far as "IIel-1 1" but it ended in a gurgle. There was pleuty of water in the creek and some of it found its way into his lungs. The boys set liiui up across the street car track with his feet ele vated at tin angle of 45 degrees and al lowed the water to drain out of his carburetor or aesophegus or whatever it is that refuses to work tinder water. After a few sputters he went on down the street with the rest of the gang. No names of the participants were avail able, but "an enjoyable time was had by all those present."
