Clyde B. Aitchison, of the State rui -lie
Service Commission, will assume the
directorship ot the railroad commis
sioners' association at Washington, D.
C at a salary of $8,500 a year, accord
ing to the report at the state house
today. Mr. Aitchison 's resignation
from the Oregon commission will take
effect June 1. Governor Withyconibe
stated some time ago that in case Mr.
Aitchison resigned he would appoint the
republican nominee, tor public service
commissioner from enstorn Oregon to
fill the vacancy.

Deputy sheriffs closely guarded the

Club Alleys to Run
Under New Management
The flub Howling alleys have been
sold by Steutsmau and Wilson to T. K
I'isey, of Tillamook,, who formerly con
ducted nn alley and pool room in that
city. Mr. Casey has closed the alleys
for a few days to make sonio repairs
anil ihnugcs in the establishment and
will open up for hnsiuessl Tuesday,
April II, with the alleys in first class

One afternoon each week will be set

pend upon the ladies to inform him
which afternoon is most convenient for
