l . THE MARKETS J
The following prices for fruits
and vegetables are those asked by
the wholesaler of the retailer, and
not what is paid to the producer.
All other prices are those paid the
producer. Corrections are made
daily.
About tiie oniv changes in the mar
ket this morning are noted in eggs ind
produce. While a few houses are buy
ing for 1.") cents cash, the general run
of buying is based on Hi cents cash nnd
IS cents in trade. Portland yesterday
was paying IS 1-2 cents case count.
It is a long lane th.it has no turn. Af
ter being quoted for the past year at 7
ami S cents, roosters are looking up a
little just at present and Portland hous
es are quoting a price that will enable
local buyers to pay !i cents. As to how
long roosters will roost so high, from n
market standpoint, is another question.'
Jn the retail trade, grocers seem to,
have settled to a price of $i.f5 for cnue
and $7.(io for beet sugar.
