The following prices for fruits
and vegetables are those asked by
the wholesaler of the retailer, and
not what ia paid to the producer.
All other prices are those paid the
producer. Corrections are made
daily.
Prices are unchanged today. Fggs
seem to have reached the bottom al
though a few dealers claim purchases
can be made at 13 cents cash. Sugar re
tail is about the same today in all Htores
with $i.40 for cane. Portland report
indicate even a higher price may be ex

Last Wednesday, as C. A. Beaiichamp
nnd wife, Ed Blnkely nnd Harry Jones
were passing the J. W. Thomas home,
east of town, Master Harry was the
first to notice smoke issuing from the
roof of the house. The car wns .dopped,
a bucket brigade formed nnd the fire
extinguished, but not until a hole sev
eral feet ill size had been burned in the
roof. It was a lucky circumstance that
the fire wns noticed in time, as a few
minutes more would have placed if be

STAYTON CLUB MEETS
The Stayton Commercial club met last
evening at a called session in the city
hall. A number of members, some who

MUCH ROAD WORK PLANNED
Many rond supervisors ami other rural
residents of tne county were in attend
ance at the monthly meeting of the
county court Wcduesdiy, nearly all of
whom were interested in slime plan to
improve the roads in their particular
districts.
T. J. Worth, supervisor of the district
near the Rogue River school house, pre
sented a petition signed by practically
every property owner in that locality, in
which $311 in cash and labor was pledg
ed for the rocking of the road from tiie
Werth bridge tn the corner by the
school house. The court accepted the
petition and will order the improve
ment mole. . ,
In the Mistletoe rond district. No. 12
a similar condition -exists. The resi
dents of that section have plndged over
$:ilo, to fix the road on Samuel hill so
that it will be passable tiie year round

day soon when everybody is expected to
