Washington, Feb. 18. Sweden
yesterday requested the. United
States to start a .joint neutral
protest against alleged British
violations of international law.
The wording of ' the request,
dealing largely with British
condition of mails, showed that
Sweden is extremely irrititcd.
No action has been taken,
because the administartion docs
not desire to engage in a Brit
ish controversy while the German-American
situation is un
settled. Moreover, probably no
action will be taken till the lat
ter is terminated or until Col
onel House returns from Europe
and reports to President Wilson
on his investigation there.
