The egg market is in very bad shape along Front street, and quotations have dropped as low as 35 cents a dozen for case count. While only one of the big commis sion houses was offoring. eggs freoly during the day at the lower prioe, oth ers wero not asking over 38 cents, but at neither price was thore any special inclination among retailers to clean up the Btreet 's holdiugs. Receipts of fresh eggs along the street are increasing rapidly, and while some of tho dealers have not yot been able to fool tho growth of arrivals, others show by their receiving books that supplies at least doubled during a week's poriod. Butter is Cut. The market for butter is now gen eral at 29 1-2 centB for extra city cream' ery cubes, with small packages at 32 cents. There has been more or less se cret cutting of creamery buttor values since Friday night. Who made the cut, and what was its purpose none seem to know. ' In any event, tho big city creameries which have becu charged time and time again by various interests with con trolling tho price of butter, actually knew nothing whatever about the cut until it was fully a day old, and some of their salesmen ran across the lower prices. The now price is a cut of two cents a pound all the way through for butter fat as well as buttor. Tho now quotation on butter fat is: No. 1, 31 cents; No, 2, 29 cents per pound, Portland delivery. Storogo buttor is naturally foeling the effects of the woaker tone, and out in fresh creamery, and various cuts are reported in that line ss a result. Hog Prices Higher. While total offoring of hogs at North Portland at tho week's opening were fractionally less than a week ago, still there was a big showing of supplies in the yards. , Prices wero bulged up another nickol during the morning trade with tops commuuding $0.10 with ease. A number of sales were mado at tho higher fig ures, tiiorcby tirmly establishing tho new quotation. General hog market range: Choice light weights ...... ,$6.05(?6.10 Good light weights 6.90fl.00 Medium weights 5.50(i5.85 Rough and heavy 4.8G(j5.25 Cattle Market is Good. There wns n rather libcrul run of cattle in the North l'ortlnnd yards over Sunday, but the trend of tho trade con tinued quite favorable as compared with last wook. Buying of cattle con tinues on a liberal sculo. Good stuff especially is being sought at full prices. Wheat Advances. Whent market is showing a further advance in lending world's centers for tho day, which is giving tho interior Pacific northwest miirkets a generally better feeling. Buying of wheat in tho interior is again on a rather extensive scale for eastern shipment to miller and for movement to Europo via tho Atlantic seaboard. For that reason, aside from the const milling deinnnd, the interior trnde is on a higher busis than tide water. Flour murket continues to show a steady tone, and while there is again more or less talk of unother advance soon in the price of put out flour, lead ing millers say there is nothing in sight at the moment. Millstuff dcuiund from the south is quite good, according to local millers, and they ure oldo to securo with eusc much better values isnu era shown in the locul excliuugu, FLOUR Selling price: Patent, $5.00; Willamette valley, $0.00; local straight, $4.40(a4.80; bilkers' local, $4.U0(u5.OO; .luntuua spring wheat, $0.70; exports, si. ,(!((;: -ilii; wliolo wheat, sxvlo; gra ham, $5.20; I've flour, $0.50 per bar rel.
