as a result of the large orders for flour
received from England. On account of
lack of shipping facilities, this has but
little effect on the local market and
the prices today holds at tie 80 and 82

them up late last night. On another cot,
near tier's, lay her 22-year-old brother,

In the face of demands from Mexican

bravely fought them off, first hurling
a package nt one of them. At the same
time, tho lad made a lunge for tho pair
of stiekup men, and prnpplcd with
them. The father, C. D. Macy, u promi
nent business man, however, fell be
fore a bullet from one of the bandit's
revolvers, and died 10 minutes Inter.
The boy and girl both fought on un
til bullets dropped them.

gest single shipment mado this season,
a carload of clover seod valued a $13,
000, is on its way to Chicago from Al
ba It was .shipped; -today-by -Mi
Senders and company. It contains 82,
000 pounds of seed and is the last of
over half a million pounds of seed ship
ped by this firm . this .season.. . The
shipment is mostly red clover.
East Oret'oninn: One September 30
five crates of China pheasants were
liberatod in lower Camas valley on tho
ranches of Mossio, Hilbert, Clark, Hus
ton and Mottic. These birds had suf
fered much from their long trip from
the Clackamas game farm, especially
during the lnttor part of the trip which
was made from Pilot Rock by stage.
However, 55 out of tho total of 60
birds in tiie five crates wore alive
when liberated, and from the number
of birds that can now he seen it is
known that 'there has beon vary little
