t THE MARKETS
Although the English government
has taken over 20,000,000 bushels of
wheat in Canada, and the markets in
Portland and Chicago reported strong
er, thcro has been no change in the lo
cal conditions. Wheat is worth from
UO to 82 cents in Salem, the prevailing
price ior several wooks.
With the exception of veal, which is i
weaK and quoted at o cents, thore is
no change in the live stock market.
Sugar is still quotod at $6.80 and $7
and instead of a decline of 30 cents as
predicted a few days ago, the chances
arc now favorable for an advance of 10
cents a hundred. At least this is the
opinion of several grocers wiio keep
puretty close m touch with the sugar
market.
